The Goa Dental College & Hospital was envisioned to generate technical and professional manpower in dentistry in this state and to provide dental care delivery system to the public at large. With an annual intake capacity of 50 seats, the BDS Course is a 5 year course including one year of compulsory paid rotating internship.
It acts as a referral centre in the state for dental services and since 1980 has been rendering specialized services through nine departments in various specialties which provide the students clinical exposure and experience in imparting dental care to the patients.
In order to provide higher education to the dental graduates of this institution and to improve the potential of the dental manpower generated at this institution, the post graduate (MDS) courses in the following specialties have been started with the number of seats shown against them:-

Every year around a lac patients are being treated in this institution out of which about 750 to 800 patients are indoor patients.
The master plan of GDCH is in two phases: Phase-I has been completed and the college functions in this premises since 1995 with all the 9 departments accommodated into the Phase-I building. In order to meet the requirements of the Dental Council of India for MDS Course in specialties of Dentistry, the Phase II has been sanctioned by the Government who has entrusted the Architectural Consultancy and Project Management Consultancy to the Goa State Infrastructure & Development Corporation and work is expected to start soon.
